Clean Water Projects

Water is life, and it is also scarce in many areas of Kenya. We are working on helping with that.

Clean Water Projects

The Problem:

According to the World Health Organization, 1 in 3 people in the world do not have access to safe drinking water. That means that billions of people are exposed to disease. Over half of the world doesn’t have adequate sanitation services. 43% of Kenyans don’t have access to clean water, especially in rural communities. Often, their source of water is shared with malaria carrying mosquitos and local animals, resulting in diseases such as typhoid and cholera. In the Great Rift Valley, the water table is very low, and the ability to drill boreholes is limited due to the depth required to hit water.

How We Create Positive Change:

In 2017, we started building water storage systems with families, to capture rainwater from the roofs of their mud huts. While it isn’t the best solution, it does provide cleaner water than muddy rivers and watering holes shared by animals.

When we began working with The USANA Foundation on our Garden Tower Systems, we decided to include 100 liter water storage tanks, so that families would be able to collect rainwater. We have distributed over 600 water storage tanks over the past two years.

The challenge of clean water is particularly difficult on the Maasai Mara. We expanded our clean water program to include 1000 liter water storage tanks, to allow even more water to be captured during the rainy seasons. The response has been incredible, and the impact on the families is immeasurable. This program is in high demand by families.

How you can help:

We are looking for partners, both one time and monthly, who will donate to this project to help move it forward. For as little as $100, you can help a family with access to clean water. By becoming a monthly donor, you can help a new family each month! 100% of your donation goes to the project you choose.

You can also join us on an expedition, where you can meet the families we are helping, experience the beautiful culture of Kenya, and go on an epic game drive in the #1 safari destination in the world!
